EBS

Elastic Block Store (EBS)

  • Is a scalable, high-performance, block-storage service for use with Amazon EC2 instances. (It's specifically for attaching to servers that are launched with Amazon EC2)

  • With EBS, you can scale your usage up or down within minutes.

  • Has high-durability (99.999%), including replication within AZs.

    • Each EBS volume is automatically replicated within its AZ to protect from component failure.

  • You can encrypt your block storage without needing to build, maintain and secure your own key management infrastructure.

  • Protect block-storage with EBS Snapshots, that can be used to enable disaster recovery, migrate data across Regions, and improve backup compliance.

    • AWS further simplifies the lifecycle management of your snapshots integrating with Amazon Data Lifecycle Manager.

      • Creates Policies to automate tasks like creation, deletion, retention and sharing of snapshots.

5 Types of different storage
